The Captive: Survey Analysis

Having received all the surveys me, Harvey and Caitlin analysed them to try and spot trends that would suggest where we could improve. In relation to all the questions this was the general feel of the feedback:

Do you like our film? (Circle) Yes No? Yes
How old are you?  {Whatever age saw it}
What age do you think our film is aimed at? 15-30
What do you like about our film? The nervousness created, made it edgy, wasnt sure what was going to happen, the use of glowsticks, made to feel like the victim
What genre do you think our film is? Gangster/Crime
Does our title suit the type of film? Why? Yes, the scene reflects exactly the title
Is there anything you think we should change? More footage, outside footage, not just in the warehouse
Do you think the camera is steady? And could you see our film clearly?  Could  be steadier, and yes slightly too dark in places
Did you follow the plot of our film? Do you think it is realistic? Yes, easy to follow
Did you like our use of music? Does it suit the film? Why? Hearbeat very affective, music was good fitted in well
Did you like our use of cinematography?  Yes consistent, glowsticks used to very good effect
Did you think our location went with our film? Yes, the dark empty warehouse gave it the edgy,  nervy feel
Did you think the costumes were appropriate? Formality was good, professional/upper class feel.

Based on the feedback we then decided we would move on from our draft and continue to edit our piece based on the biggest trends of feedback we got in order:

Issue                                                                     Solution
1) More footage needed, maybe bits outside          More footage, exactly this
of the container
2) Glowsticks used to very good effect                   Little bit more action of Glowsticks
3) Made to feel like the victim (heartbeat)               Ramp this up, on outside footage do this aswell
4) Maybe too dark in parts                                    Edit by increasing brightness in Final Cut X
5) Camera quite jiggidy                                          Make it more obvious to audience we are going for this                                                                                                                                                                                                          affect, nervousness/unsteady hands
